Intoxilyzer® 9000 Training: Theory and Operation (1 Day)
The Intoxilyzer® 9000 is the newest breath alcohol testing instrument manufactured by CMI, Inc. This training course covers the complete operations of the Intoxilyzer® 9000 and is for the experienced or beginner legal practitioner. Topics covered include pharmacology, toxicology of alcohol, theory of infrared spectrometry, legal aspects of the 9000 and touch screen operations. Upon completion of this course, attendees will be awarded a Certification of Completion.
Intoxilyzer® 8000 Training: Theory and Operation (1 Day)
This training course covers the complete operations and maintenance of the Intoxilyzer® 8000 and is for the experienced or beginner legal professional. Topics covered include pharmacology, toxicology of alcohol, theory of infrared spectrometry, legal aspects of the 8000, push button operations, and basic maintenance and repair. Upon completion of this course, attendees will be awarded a Certification of Completion.
Intoxilyzer® 5000 Training: Theory and Operation (1 Day)
This training course covers the complete operations and maintenance of the Intoxilyzer® 5000 and is designed for the beginner or experienced legal professional. Topics covered include pharmacology, toxicology of alcohol, theory of infrared spectrometry, legal aspects of the 5000, push button operations, and basic maintenance and repair. Attendees will be awarded a Certification of Completion, upon attendance.
Standardized Field Sobriety Testing Certification Student Course (NHTSA Course) 24 Hour Training
This training course will certify the attendee in the most current NHTSA approved SFST training curriculum. This is the same NHTSA SFST training course that law enforcement officers are trained in nationwide. The course is open to any student who wants to learn more about the NHTSA approved standardized field sobriety testing and its foundation.
This course will train the legal professional in: Perspectives on recognizing driving behavior displayed by impaired drivers; Attitudes and skills in detecting the impaired driver; Understanding the tasks and decisions involved in identifying the intoxicated driver; The DUI/DWI detection process (vehicle in motion, personal contact, pre-arrest screening); Effects of DUI/ DWI enforcement; DUI/ DWI enforcement and the three standardized field sobriety tests (Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus, Walk and Turn, and One Leg Stand); Typical clues of alcohol impairment; Divided attention testing and the NHTSA standardized field sobriety testing administrative and scoring protocols; SFST validation studies; Live alcohol workshop. Course includes a copy of the current NHTSA SFST student manual.
Standardized Field Sobriety Testing Instructor Certification Course (NHTSA Course) 24 Hour Training
This is an intense training seminar with classroom instruction and practical application. During this training, the student will be trained to effectively administer and instruct the SFST practitioner training course curriculum. The course will address applied basic adult learning theory and instructional techniques necessary in order to deliver the SFST concepts and principals to your audience. The seminar will center on demonstration of teaching techniques through a series of instructional lead activities by the students, including trial application and techniques. Evaluation of the student's performance in making effective presentations will be assessed in the classroom portion of the seminar. Coverage and instruction of the entire SFST practitioner course curriculum will be conducted throughout the length of the course.
This seminar will qualify the successful student as an instructor of the NHTSA/IACP approved standardized field sobriety testing practitioner certification course. The course is open only to person's who have successfully completed the NHTSA approved SFST practitioner course. Course includes current NHTSA SFST Instructor Manual and SFST studies including the NHTSA PowerPoint presentations and paperwork.
Standardized Field Sobriety Testing Update Course (NHTSA Course) 8 Hours
This one day refresher training program is designed to enable participants to refresh their knowledge of the NHTSA DUI/DWI Detection and Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST) procedures. The course includes the recognition and interpretation of DUI/DWI violations, the administration and interpretation of standardized field sobriety tests and how to describe the evidence obtained in the "totality of the circumstances" clearly and convincingly. The students will receive the latest NHTSA SFST Update course student manual and SFST Validation studies.
Handheld breath Test Instruments (PBT): Theory and Operation (1 Day)
In this course the student will learn the proper use of PBTs, as it applies to DUI Enforcement. The student will learn how the instrument works and the limitations of the PBT. All attendees will receive "hands on" training with PBTs. The science of Fuel Cell technology will be explained, as well as demonstrated. Each student will learn of problems with PBTs and how they can be misused in the field. Attendees will learn what may cause false/positive readings and how to defend against improper use of the instrument.
Medical Legal Aspects of HGN Training: (1 Day)
Each student will learn the NHTSA Standards for the HGN test as part of Field Sobriety Testing. The student will learn other causes of nystagmus (unrelated to alcohol); as well medical causes associated with nystagmus. Each student will learn why HGN may be caused by alcohol and the anatomy of the eye muscles that causes nystagmus and how HGN is manifested.
Dram Shop, Alcohol Server Training: (1 Day)
Each student will learn the importance and understanding of Dram Shop laws. The student will learn to recognize impaired persons and learn strategies to help prevent over consumption. Each student will learn how alcohol affects the human body and how drinking patters and food consumption can help reduce over consumption.
